Larry O. Gray, K9XA  SK  


Larry Omar Gray was born February 9, 1938 in Cosmos, Ohio, son of the late Maurice Gray and Francis Smith Gray.  He worked as an Electronic Engineer, retiring after many years from Dana Corporation.  Larry had a brilliant mind, was the inventor of many electronic patents, and instrumental in the development of the automotive cruise control of which we enjoy today.  He enjoyed spending time as an amateur Ham radio operator, with the call sign K9XA.  He was a member of the White Water Valley Amateur Radio Club.  He also enjoyed participating in Civil War Reenactments, computer gaming, bowling and loved watching his grandsons play ball.  Larry was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will truly be missed.   He passed to his Heavenly home at the age of 83 on April 20, 2021.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son, Jamie Gray.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Peggy Kruse Gray of the home; sons, Scott Gray (Lori) of Ft. Wayne, IN, Eric Gray (Frankie) of Laurinburg; brother, Max Gray (K1MAX) of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Matthew Gray (Allie), Samuel Gray, along with his loving nieces and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Scotland Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service is being planned  for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021 in the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel.   The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
