William “Bill” Bayless, 68, of Ellenboro, WV, departed this life on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at PineView Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Harrisville, WV, surrounded by his family and friends.
Bill was born September 29, 1948 in Parkersburg, WV a son of the late David Bayless and Imogene (McGee) Bayless Davis. He was retired after 39 years of service to the former Cytec Industries of Willow Island, WV where he served as a shift team leader. Bill was a proud graduate of Newport High School with the class of 1966 where he served as the former president of the Newport Alumni Association for many years. Bill was also a proud veteran of the US Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Bill led a very active life and was deeply involved in various organizations in his community. He served his community for over 50 years as a volunteer fireman. During his career, he belonged to several fire departments that included, Newport VFD, Harrisville VFD, Meyersdale, PA VFD, St. Marys VFD, and the Ellenboro VFD where he served as the chief for 25 years retiring in April 2017.
Bill was also a member of the St. Marys Masonic Lodge #41 AF&AM, life member of Harris-Ritchie VFW #3554, American Legion Post #15 of Parkersburg, WV, Nemesis Shrine of Parkersburg, WV, Ellenboro Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star #20 where he served as the treasurer for many years, and a CPR/First Aid Instructor for RESA. He dedicated many years of volunteer services in Ritchie County also as a member of the Ellenboro/Lamberton PSD and held offices in the Ritchie County Fire Fighters Association and LEPC.
One of Bill’s hobbies included being a Ham Radio Operator with the call letters KB8HEK and also belonged to the Navy Marine Corps-MARS. He also greatly enjoyed his and Susy’s class reunions, going on cruises, and just being with fellow fireman and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susy (Cain) Bayless; son, William “Craig” Bayless and wife Jenny of St. Marys, WV; grandchildren, Wesley & Summer Bayless of St. Marys, WV, step brother, Richard Davis and wife Brenda of St. Marys, WV, along with special cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step father, Ralph Davis and his cocker spaniels, Candi, Taffe, & Charlie.
Funeral services will be 1pm, Sunday, August 27, 2017, at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV with Pastor John Strimer officiating. During the service, please share fond memories of Bill. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Finch, WV where full military honors will be conducted by Harris-Ritchie VFW #3554. Visitation will be from 1pm-8pm on Saturday at the funeral home with an Eastern Star service conducted by Ellenboro Chapter #20 at 7:30pm.
The family would like to thank doctors Heather Straight, Kyathari, Shaw, Spychalski, Khosrovi, and Galloway along with their staff for the care they provided Bill for the last 3 years and a special thank you to the staff at PineView Nursing & Rehabilitation for taking excellent care of him.

I would imagine that somewhere there is yet a pickup truck load of his 23 channel units.
He was a wonderfully loyal person.
